The Gogebic Conservation District has received a grant from the National Association of Conservation Districts Urban and Community Conservation Initiative program. We will be holding a series of listening sessions throughout Gogebic County which will be open to community members. Our goal for our listening sessions is to determine where there is the most need in terms of community agriculture/local food and what programs can be developed to meet those needs and address barriers. The listening sessions will be open to the public and will consist of a meet and greet, a guest speaker, a round robin brainstorming session, and optional breakout sessions. We ask that participants complete a short questionnaire consisting of six questions in order to gather some quantifiable information and allow people to write out suggestions or ideas. Each listening session will have a guest speaker from the community give a short presentation about work they have done regarding community food in their municipality.
